Are my photos uploaded to a server?

No. Conversion happens entirely in your browser using an on-device decoder. Your files are never sent anywhere — not a single byte. After the page has loaded once, the converter even works fully offline.

What is HEIC and why won't my photos open?

HEIC (High Efficiency Image Container) is the format iPhones and iPads use by default. It saves space but isn't supported by many Windows apps, websites and older programs. Converting to JPG or PNG makes your photos open everywhere.

Can I convert many photos at once?

Should I choose JPG, PNG or PDF?

Choose JPG for photos — it's smaller and works everywhere, with a Good/Better/Best quality choice. Choose PNG if you need a lossless copy or transparency support; PNG files are larger but pixel-perfect. Choose PDF when the HEIC is a photographed document, receipt or form — each photo becomes a single PDF page sized to the image, ready to email or print.

Does converting reduce my photo quality?

PNG output is lossless — identical pixels. JPG is re-encoded at your chosen quality (Best ≈ 95%, visually indistinguishable from the original for most photos). Pick Best if you want the highest fidelity.

Why did one of my files fail?

If a file isn't a valid HEIC/HEIF image — or is already a JPG/PNG — it's flagged individually with a clear message, and the rest of your batch still converts. Some HEIC files containing unusual encodings may not decode; try re-exporting from Photos if that happens.
