Does my photo get uploaded to your servers?

No. Every operation happens entirely in your browser using JavaScript. Your file is never sent to any server — not a single byte.

What metadata does this tool remove?

Everything: GPS coordinates, camera make and model, lens info, serial numbers, capture timestamps, software used, author/copyright fields, IPTC captions, XMP data, and all technical EXIF fields. After stripping, we re-scan and show you a '✓ Verified — 0 fields remain' badge.

Will stripping metadata damage my image quality?

The image is re-encoded at 92% JPEG quality — visually identical but not a bit-perfect copy. If you need lossless output from a JPEG, use the PNG format option in a future update. PNG output is always lossless.

What does the 'View on Google Maps' link do?

Clicking it opens Google Maps in a new tab with the GPS coordinates that were embedded in your photo. Nothing is sent automatically — you control whether to open it. The inline OpenStreetMap preview is also off by default and only loads if you click 'Show inline map'.

Can this tool read GPS from all image types?

GPS data is most common in JPEGs taken with smartphones and cameras. PNG and WebP rarely carry GPS. HEIC (iPhone) is not yet supported for direct canvas re-encoding — convert to JPEG first using our HEIC Converter tool.
