Are my images uploaded to a server?

No. Conversion uses your browser's built-in Canvas API — no pixels are ever sent to a server. After the first page load, the tool works completely offline.

Which formats can I convert between?

You can convert any combination of JPG, PNG, and WebP. Drop a JPG and get WebP; drop a PNG and get JPG — any direction works. For HEIC files from an iPhone, use the HEIC Converter tool instead.

Does this preserve image orientation?

Yes. The converter reads the EXIF orientation tag and applies it during decoding, so portrait photos stay upright. You won't get the sideways-image bug that affects some other tools.

When should I use JPG vs PNG vs WebP?

JPG — best for photos, works everywhere, smallest for camera images. PNG — lossless, no quality loss, best for screenshots or images with text/transparency. WebP — modern format supported by all current browsers; offers better compression than JPG at similar quality, ideal for web use.

What does the quality setting do?

Quality applies to JPG and WebP (both lossy formats). Good (70%) gives the smallest file. Better (85%) is a balanced default. Best (95%) is visually indistinguishable from the original for most images. PNG is always lossless, so quality doesn't apply.

Can I convert many images at once?

Why did one of my files fail?

Only JPG, PNG, and WebP are accepted as input. If you drop a different format (e.g. GIF, AVIF, BMP, or HEIC), it will be flagged individually — the rest of the batch still converts. Very corrupt files may also fail with a clear per-file message.
