Why convert HEIC to PNG?
HEIC is compact but awkward to edit: many design tools, document editors and older programs simply can't open it. Converting to PNG gives you a lossless copy — no compression artefacts added — that virtually every editor and platform reads. PNG is the right pick when you'll drop the image into a layout, edit and re-save it repeatedly, or need crisp edges preserved exactly. The trade-off is size: a photo saved as PNG is considerably larger than the HEIC, because PNG doesn't use photographic compression. HEIC/HEIF stores photos efficiently but isn't editor-friendly outside Apple's ecosystem.
