Is anything uploaded to a server?

No. The Canvas API draws and exports the image entirely inside your browser. Your text, uploaded photos and logo never leave your device — you can switch off your wifi after the page loads and the tool still works.

Why does the image need to be at a public URL?

When someone shares your link on Facebook, LinkedIn or X, their crawler fetches the og:image from the URL you specify. If that URL points to a file on your computer or localhost, the crawler can't reach it and no image appears. Upload the downloaded file to your server, a CDN or any image host, then paste that public URL into the snippet field.

What size should I use?

Landscape 1200 × 630 is the standard for og:image and is recommended for Facebook, LinkedIn and X large-card previews. Square 1200 × 1200 works well for Instagram-style link posts where a square crop is preferred.

What does twitter:card = summary_large_image mean?

This tells X (Twitter) to display a large rectangular image instead of a small thumbnail next to the link. Your 1200 × 630 image will appear above the title and description — much more eye-catching than the default.

Will my long title overflow the image?

No. The tool auto-fits the title: it starts at your chosen maximum size, wraps the text into lines, and shrinks the font in 2px steps until the whole title fits cleanly inside the canvas. The subtitle does the same independently.

Can I use a photo as the background?

Yes — switch to the Image background mode and upload any photo. Use the overlay slider to add a dark or light veil over the photo so your title text stays legible against any image.
